Definition:
Selenium (Se) is an essential trace element to keep the ability of growth and reproduction of animals. It plays very important roles on animals growth, re-production, anti-oxidant, anti-stress and immunity. Seleno-methionine (Se-M) is a kind of organic selenium source. Se-M presents the same form naturally in plant and corn. The organic selenium of selenium yeast is also Seleno-methionine. Se-M is a safe, high-effective selenium source, has high bioavailability and is very suitable to be absorbed and metabolized in animals body. Se-M can replace some methionine to combine with body protein to become a storage warehouse of selenium, which makes a reservation against the increased requirement of selenium in some periods, but without the risk of poisoning. Evidences prove the effectiveness of Se-M is better than other forms of organic and inorganic selenium.

Function:

1. Enhance the stability of meat color and reduce its drip loss.
2. Regulate the synthesis of iodothyronine-deiodinases (maintain thyroid function), and prevent animals from growth depression induced by selenium deficiency.
3. Increase sperm motility of male animals and improve their reproductive function.
4. Optimize immune system and enhance protective effect on liver.
5. Increase the content of selenium in the livestock product (meat, egg and milk), improve their nutritional value.
6. Increase the retention of selenium in the female animals that is able to make more selenium transferred to fetus.
